I was wondering if my phalenopsis is infected or the top leaf is just dying?..is this natural and if not what can i do to prevent it from happening again? [IMG][/IMG]
Looks like severe insect or mite damage. I would guess mites. Take a moist white paper towel and run it along the underside of the leaf. If it gets orange streaks you have mites. I'll let others comment further. Good luck!
I am not as familiar with viruses which attack Phals as I am with the common ones that affect Cyms, but I believe that may be a virus affecting your plant. Whatever it is, isolate it from your other plants and avoid cross-contamination from your hands, water or implements you may use on it until you can get a definitive answer.
