What happened to the bud?

This beautiful Dend. (4 crosses), was going to be benched this weekend at our Autumn Fair, but something happened to one of the buds?(just to the left at the back). Has an insect got to it? Can I just cut off that bud and still try to show it?

Wow! I love your den! Unfortunately, I don't know the answer as I have not had a chance to show my orchids yet (they all waited until after the shows to bloom). Hope someone experienced can help.

It's difficult to make out. Can you show it from a different angle?

No sorry, I cut off bud and examined the inside, couldn't find anything, just a mark on the outside of the bud. It is a shame, as it was flowering at the right time for the "Orchid Show"
