Default Cattleya hybrids with leaves and pseudobulbs drying

Hi
For some time me and couple of my friends(members of The Orchid Society of Karnataka, India) are having problems with grown up Cattleya hybrid plants. The symptom of leaf drying and subsequently spreading to the pseudobulb and then to other pseudobulbs and eventually the whole plant drying. I am posting some pictures. I was wondering whether it is black rot ? Can some body thow light on this with control measures. Thanks

What do the roots look like, has the plant been repotted since you own it. I had something similar happen, I recently raised the humidity in one of my plant rooms and found a plant in the beginning of what is happening to your plants. When I inspected my plant I found it was pretty much all root and hardly any bark, I removed the rotted part and repotted. Which is what after researching on websites was recomended.

Hi
Thanks for sharing the concern. The roots are ok and alive to begin with and as the pseudobulbs start drying the roots also. I was going through some articles and also talking to few people, it looks like Black rot !!. This is happening to the grown up plants, i have lost about 6 of them in the last 6 months. I need to buck up and do something before i lose any more.Yeah, one of the treatment is to cut and remove the rot portion so that it does not spread. Thnks
