Well, the half-dead NOID orchid that I bought at Home Depot last year for $1.50 and nursed back to health was finally blooming when a couple of days ago one of the buds was broken off. The next day the leaf closest to the bud showed up with these wierd circles. I've sprayed thoroughly w/insecticidal soap and scrubbed the leaves w/a toothbrush.
Any thoughts from the experts as to what this could be?
Nope! I would say the leaves have died because they are detached from the plant! Just kidding! Doesn't seem like an insect to me so the treatment was a waste. I am just guessing it's due to one of a few factors - too much light (how much light is the orchid getting?) - too much water (how often do you water?) - virus (least likely cause, but still possible.)
Possible rot. The sunken in areas could be due to Mesophyll cell collapse. Too low temp, watering with too cold water and getting it on the leaves. Looks like rot is moving in though.
