Unhappy Is this black rot on my Psychopsis Mariposa?
I have a Psy. Mariposa GV and it came with a 10 inch spike. I have managed to get it to grow about another four inches since I have had it. I have just noticed that it has developed a nasty black mark around the base of the spike and this is spreading. Please give it to me straight, is this rot???

I really, really hope it isn't. I've had all kinds of problems with my cattleyas and the dreaded Black Rot. I'd hate for you to lose the spike. Hope the site helps. Another good diagnosing site is offered by Cloud's Orchids.
