you used the big guns and it didnt die??!!
insecticides will easily kill the mealies...
anyways:
this works for me very well...
10 drops dish soap
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon extract
2 cups tepid water from the sink faucet
I also add inside the spray bottle a cinnamon stick
spray the plant soaking wet
make some more to soak the pot in a basin to kill the eggs
repeat weekly until the buggers are all nuked!
you can sobstitute cinnamon with tumeric extract if you cant find the cinnamon extract...
go find these extracts in a supermarket with the vanilla and almond extract for baking and desert making
also in bakers supply
or in cake making supplies
I am pretty sure the drug store also carries them
it is an extract from boiling cinnamon sticks and distilling them ... so maybe if you soak cinnamon sticks for a week it will give you a semblance of cinnamon extract; maybe I am wrong: I am not a chemist

I would use that if I could find cinnamon extract, but I don't.... I've tried the soaking thing before on a variation of some other cinnamon based treatment, but no luck. The bark must be too dried up to get oil out of it. Unless it didn't soak long enough.

Malathion will work as well, but again at weekly intervals to get the newly hatched ones. Or you could use the systemic but in the meantime a shot of Malathion will kill the adults until the systemic gets into the plant's system.
Imidacloprid does not work for spider mites and can encourage them by killing off any natural predators. But it works great for mealy bugs. Use caution when applying it (gloves and mask).

why not get a bunch of cinnamon sticks (10 sticks)and boil them in 2 cups of water...when it simmers to just 1 cup : collect it and use it for the mix(I would think its diluted enough)
I am wary of the powder because it can dessicate the roots I make a paste of parts water/parts powder for any cuts I make
heres a link ...you can buy it online:
Pure Cinnamon Extract 4oz. - Cook Flavoring Company Cinnamon Flavor | Cook Flavoring Company
I dont think this is illegal to import/export its used for baking...

The warnings limiting the number of applications per year are to prevent the pest from developing resistance. I suspect that this is more important in agriculture applications where large fields or glasshouse complexes are being treated. Still, I do rotate through a number of materials for this reason. I have Imidacloprid, bifenthrin, abamectin, azadiractin, spinosad and kinoprene all with different Methods of Action so that I can rotate through these; unfortunately it is very expensive for a hobby grower to purchase all of these.

I rotate as well and know about resistance issues, but this is the first time I see it clearly on the package.
Pesticides are now too expensive to buy, the french government, in part because of the economic situation, raised sales tax on pest control products (including ones for organic agriculture) from 5.5% to the level of the main sales tax (19.7%), and the 19.7 is set to rise to 22.3%....

My husband has seven or eight aquariums so I cannot use the big, bad insecticides in the house. Into a quart spray bottle I put 1/2 tsp cinnamon extract (spice aisle at Wal Mart),10 drops of Dawn dishwashing detergent, 1/3-1/2 tsp alcohol (depends on how bad the infestation is) and I fill the bottle with water. Then I spray really well once or twice a week. I soak the soil if eggs are a problem and love to watch those suckers turn from white to grey when I spray them...I feel like a witch mixing a potion , but it seems to work ...

Eggs are above ground, unless the invasion spread to the roots as well. So if you see any mealies hanging around at the base of the plants, dunking is probably a good idea.
