Default In Need of a Fungicide

I am in need of a fungicide to treat a couple plants that have gotten black rot fungus from an infected "rescue" plant.

I have looked through past forum posts on "fungicide" but can't seem to find any specific brands recommended by anyone.

Can someone please recommend a brand/type you have used that gave good results?

Any help is appreciated!

I know a lot of people use Physan 20.
I use original Listerine.

I use Diconal from Lowes it is thick won't spray I use a tissue with some on it . Or dilute a little with water and spray . If there is soft rot present I remove it and use straight regular peroxcide on the cut area .. Gin

For roots and advanced cases I use Thiomyl which is a systemic fungicide. For lighter issues like mold, I use Physan 20 spray. Physan doesn't do much on plants with rot inside tissues.

I just threw away one plant - fast growing black spots in the leaves and two new shoots died, roots pretty well gone (jeez, that was fast). Nice cat that was doing really well. The other only shows signs on one backbulb that I am cutting off and then soaking the plant in fungicide. Fingers crossed that it makes it.

Needless to say, it is well separated from the rest of my plants now.

I made the REALLY stupid mistake on hanging a rescue plant above health plants and then watering all of them. The rescue dripped into the others.

Dumb, dumb, dumb...

I know it is VERY tempting to help out a neglected plant which I have done on a number of occasions but learn from me and... let's be careful out there people!

Thanks all for the help.

Thanks for mentioning a systemic Ross. Do you know who makes Thiomyl?

Any Canadian growers able to recommend a systemic fungicide available in Canada?

I bought mine at Thiomyl OSG23: Camp Lot A Noise Tropicals Don't know if it can be shipped to Canada or not. Here is the Product Sheet http://www.southernag.com/PDF%20Files/Thiomyl.pdf

Hello Oscarman,
Funginex is a systemic fungicide available in Canada. It is made by "Green Cross." Seems to work well but has to be used with care.

I just started using "Consan 20" by Hi- Yield. I got it at Ace Hardware, and it claims to do everything that "Physan 20" does. It was $8 for a 16oz. bottle.

Ross

I ordered some Thiomyl. It hasn't arrived yet but I would like to know at what strength do you use it.
