I also ordered some Thiomyl, and wondered if you answered Grandma M as to the strenght you use? They show it being mixed at 100G Do you spray , drench or spot dab?

I had a Phal. that had root rot and it was creeping up onto the leaves. I used regular cinnamon and sprinkled the root area and anywhere I saw that black stuff. I since repotted it in S/H and its putting out a new leaf. So far so good.

Since this is the Pest & Diseases thread I thought I would mention Carnivorus plants . I purchased a Sundew plant I think that is its name. It came in a small plastic container with a moss medium. I placed it in the Orchidarium since I had noticed those gnats buzzing around whenever I watered. I noticed today 5 or 6 dead gnats stuck on the leaves. I like this better than spraying for bugs.

That is so funny you mentioned that.. I also bought a carniverous pitcher plant several weeks ago for the same reason. Although I don't have a huge fungus knat problem , I see them buzzing around occasionally. Hopefully the pitcher plant will eat "em" and they won't be able to lay more eggs, and all will be well eventually. LOL

Sorry I didn't see the questions till today. I mix mine in a 1 quart (US) spray bottle 3/4 tsp to 1 quart RO water. It's a wettable powder something like Captan, except you don't need any soap for the suspension. It does settle in the bottle but just shake it up before use. It seems to keep pretty well (for a few weeks) after mixing. Use an "industrial strength" hand sprayer or you can just mix in a bottle and pour into the pot.

I have den with a fungas and no idea how to help it. It might end up in the trash later today. It's climbing up the canes with black spots and yellowing dead leaves. It happens so fast!!

Does anyone know of a good way ot determine whether a bagged orchid that looks a little down on its luck is suffering from fungus versus virus.....and shoud I go with cinnamon or a copper treatment when cutting the affected leaves. Sorry no pics ask, and I'll send

basicaly, some spots on leaves on an epi mandel kanda "miyad" x epi randianum ( and BTW - mount, basket or pot on this guy?)

I don't know the answer to your question. In general we are discussing (I think) "fungus" like molds (usually white) or rot like root rot, crown rot rot spots on leaves, etc.

Since this is about fungus.... I have a Coryanthes and there are numerous brown soft spots all over the leaves. I do not know what is causing it and have treated twice so far for fungus to no avail. The leaves eventually fall off or i remove them. Please, anyone, any idea what it could be or what I can do?
