Default Catt leaf rot

The leaf on this young catt has started to go brown as you can see. Is this lack of air circulation that's causing this? None of the others have this.

It could be a fungus or bacterial infection. The leaf will be lost so I would cut it off below the brown area if possible. Then just give the orchid normal care. Every year an occasional leaf will turn brown or black on one or two of my cattleyas. If the plant is healthy I cut the leaf off and it seldom extends to the rest of the plant. Good luck.

OK, thank you for the information. The leaf is quite firm but obviously needs to be removed. I have another young one that has a leaf that has turned light green, in part, and it's soft to the touch. I wonder if that's a similar condition. I'll likely remove this other leaf too. Thank you again.

Could be erwinia, pseudomonas or pythium.

Get rid of the leaf, inspect the plant for other areas of infection.

Treat with a physan and copper fungicide for the first two; pythium can be treated with Subdue Maxx which most people don't have $$$ so you just have to

Sunburn would have a more distinct demarcation and not a pale yellow green area between the brown and green.

Repot and keep on the dry side.

Good luck!
