Unhappy Yellow/wet spots on phal

Evening everyone, i'm new to this so hopefully i do everything right!

I bought a new phal online last week, a Phal Sogo Yukidian. It arrived in excellent condition. Huge green healthy leaves and a vigorous root system. It even has 2 spikes forming. After about the second day however, i noticed some dark spots on the leaves. They are very small, and seem to have some sort of yellow in the center when you shine a light over them. They almost look mushy and wet. Can anyone help me identify what it is and how i can stop them from growing or spreading? Could they result from me misting the leaves? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks! =)

I'm not sure what your spots are but yes they could be from misting. You might dab some straight brown Listerine on the spots to stop any bacterial growth.

For my 2 cents: misting phals usually leads to problems.

Ok I will try that. Thank you =)
How can I raise humidity aside from constantly misting the plant? I live in a semi-cold area so i doubt a humidity tray would work

What is your normal humidity? If it is super low a room humidifier or a vaporizer would probably be the easiest solution.

It is very low. The dorms are very dry. Occasionally humidity rises when it rains, but it hasn't rained for a while! I think I will invest in a humidifier. It will benefit both me and the plant!

Misting the plant is actually a very ineffective way of raising humidity. The effects only last a few minutes, and you're also getting the plant wet, which is not such a good idea. You can mist the roots poking out of the pot though if you feel like they are too dry. Where are you in the US that your humidity is so low? I know that places such as Colorado are like that.

As said above, listerine on the spots could work (the regular kind is known to be safe). If you notice that they keep growing then it may be necessary to excise them.

Thank you for the advice. The listerine helped. The spots are still there, but they stopped growing/spreading
