Hello eveyone,
Could someone tell me what these areas on the underside of one of my phal leaves is, please? When I touch them, they feel puffy and hollow.....not mushy at all.
I would appreciate your help.

Looks like extensive oedema, related to a sunburn.

Ouch Vicki
You can see where its been burned, backed up with some bad heat blistering. That leaf will be a gonner soon. But a new leaf will replace it soon. Just keep trucking

Have you opened up any of the blisters? If you do have a look for any bugs. Jut a thought that it could be a bad case of leaf miners.

Maybe you don't have them over there. They burrow between the outer layers of the leaves and leave blisters and trails all over the place. Admittedly, they wouldn't leave scars like that on a plant unless it was a hideously savage attack.

Thanks, Kelo.
By sheer coincidence, just the other day I was wondering what's eating my sunflower's leaves, and it turns out that it's exactly leaf miners.
It wouldn't have crossed my mind that they could be dangerous to orchids as well. And the sunflower is quite close to my cymbidium, which spends the summer in the garden.

Lagoon
You know me..."the orchid sunburn queen of the south", so it looks like I've done it again. Geez...and my poor orchids suffer for my stupidity.
Thanks again for coming through for me,
Vicki
