They do hate salt. You could also lure them with a bowl of beer. They love the stuff! [me too]

Thanks Vanda Lover, i tried papaya slices laced with a contact insecticide with not much result may be something like a stale beer as suggested by you, lemme try, salt is difficult as i have placed the pots on a bench which has one inch mesh top, but i should get rid of this, thanks happy orchid growing

I lure them with potato slices on the surface, they love that. I also use a coffee dunk for the pots/roots which drives them out of the medium.

I found a liquid (in the UK) called Slug Clear. I don't know if it's available elsewhere so you may have to try to import it - if that's possible.

There are pet friendly slug products on the market, but I don't know if they are available where you are.

Thanks for all the suggestions, except Metaldehyde we do not get anything and we may have to resort to home remedies as suggested by you all such as stale beer, potato slices, coffee powder. Incidentally what is composition of slug clear, any idea
