brittany - Watering with ice cubes is not a good way to water your Phal. I think it would help you if you read the culture sheet on Phals in the Beginner Discussion section of the forums.

Just add ice is a gimick to sell the plants and try to help people not over water. When you water, poor water through until it freely runs out the bottom then let it drain. Check it after a few days by sticking a pencil or chop stick into the center of the pot. Leave the skewer in for a minute or two then pull it out and see if it is cool or damp if so, wait to water.

ahh, my goodness! Doing everything wrong :@ I bought a 'just add ice' orchid as my first orchid that's doing great, guess i assumed that how i watered all. Thanks all!

The ice method does work for some people, especially in the short term, or if your conditions are right for it. But it doesn't suit most people and I would advise using other methods.

The thread http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ends-here.html is a good one to give you a lot of information on orchid care, so I would advise taking a look at that if you've not already.

(PS I've combined your two threads so both pictures are together. Just in case it helps someone.)
