Which natural remedy exist against ants? Male
Default Which natural remedy exist against ants?

Home made repellents solutions.*
Put salt around the pot (preferable don't fine salt).
Put ash around the pot.
Put funds of coffee around the pot.
Put talcum powder around the pot.
Put an half moldy lemon in the place occupied by the ants.

Put a large and depth saucer full of water, over it put a a brick or a stone and put above the pot (so you avoid direct contact with the above water and even with copper used against mosquitoes that are harmful for the plant).
but this solution have some drawbacks:
- could develop mosquitoes (but you can avoid it using copper, but i don't known exactly with quantity is necessary) or simply remove the water every 1-2 days before the larvae of mosquitoes became adults
- bird, and for that problem i don't known solutions.
Naturally i speak about outside plants.

Water under pressure over the plant.
Generally is a system used over tree but with caution i think could be used even for small plant.

Between the above list seem that only the talcum solutions have as indirect effect to kill the ants, essentially seem that when the ants return to their nest, they aren't recognized by the others, and then are killed.

Don't home made solutions.
Glue traps generally used on tree but could be used even around the pot.

Gel insecticide against ants.
I don't known if the gel is made from natural or chemical products but given is something that remain external at the plant and this is something without problem for humans, i think could be something that could be used the same.

Someone would add other natural systems?

Note:
*I use this term for system generally already present on each house or easy reperible.

About remedy against aphids i think later i open another topic because even if the aphids are even more dangerous for plant respect the ants when the infection is heavy I think is preferible an approach in different directions.
For example how many known that when you want use good insect or good larvae the ants defend the aphids?
So if the infection is stronger and so are present even more ants and don't only more aphids became more difficult for the good insect and larvae prevail.

Default Anteater

Anteaters can do a fine job as well. Ants are nasty insects and even distribute other insects to different plants to get a good harvest of honeydew. Before you want to release the anteater in your orchids, you might want to tie them with ropes to avoid them from falling.

Silky anteater seems to be the smallest. But I guess that it is a rather expensive solution.

I've always used boric acid sprinkled over fruit peels and apple cores. Ants can't resist the smell of fruit, and the boric acid kills them. You can also mix boric acid with peanut butter and some honey or syrup and leave it all over their routes in little cups.

Great idea! I haven't seen Wormwood mentioned. Ants do not like it. I put fresh leaves on pots infested with an ant colony and they quickly start emerging, carrying their lava and quickly move out of the pot. Unfortunately, they usually move to the next pot....
