Mold in flask

Today I did see something white on some roots of my little Asco's. Yesterday there was nothing wrong. Can this be mold? If so what should I do? Do I have to take them out of the flask? Who can help me? I don't want to loose the seedlings. The problem seems to be only on the roots that grow out of the agar.

If they're large enough to deflask, I'd recommend deflasking.

If not, then they're pretty much done, you gotta throw them out.

I just wait a while. The spots seems to be smaller.
Can it be dried agar perhaps. I did have the heating on yesterday. That was just before I noticed the spots. And because the roots did grow out of the agar perhaps it's possible the agar did dry up because of that.

I don't know what it really is without a photo. I'm going by the fact that you might think it's an in flask fungal contamination.

Usually if the orchid doesn't naturally have hairy roots, it's most likely a fungal contamination.

It might be dried agar. Again, I wouldn't know unless you put a photo of it up.

Fungus will not always kill the seedlings right away. It could take a day or two before you start seeing signs of damage.

Do not throw it out yet!
If the infection is localized to an area you can take a lighter to the bottom of the flask right under the "infected" area and sterilize the area. This may kill some of the plants, but will save the rest of the flask.

As far as I can see there is only one spot left. That spot is still so tiny it's hardly visible. The flask should still be sterile. It did come from Thailand 3 weeks ago. So nothing happened to it.

It doesn't sound like contamination to me. Sometimes roots can look funny in flask, especially early on when still young.
