C porphyroglossa - New leads die
I mounted this plant about 2 years ago. The older part of the plant is green and well rooted into a fern fiber plaque. The problem is anything new tends to wither away. The plant is growing in several directions...or as it is not growing. I know my bifoliates really hate being moved. But I would think after this amount of time it would be over the mounting. It does not look like a virus, nor any type of rot.
Anyone have a clue?

I don't have a clue I'm afriad. Although the one thing that comes to mind is hearing lack of humidity can cause withering of new growth on some other types of orchids.

Possibly, Rosie. I'm going to snap a photo and post it later on today. I noticed a couple of new eyes swelling at the opposite end of the mount. The leads that are lost have grown off the mount. No footing so to speak. I don't know if that has any correlation?
Honestly, I would probably toss the plant if not for the fact it kind of rare in cultivation.

Looks like a watering problem..... Hard to tell in the pic.
Can you tell us how you care for it? (Watering, temps, hum, light, so on....)

Watering could be an issue. The fact it was in a high-light area could lend it's self to this plant being grown too dry. I moved it this year to an area where I keep Platyceriums. It has less light and more moisture.
I did notice it has a tiny keiki forming at the base of the "good" side? I'll post a picture, later.

How often are you watering? If the plant has new growth it's going to need to be watered pretty often. Some people water mounted orchids almost every day.

Tucker I'm going with "not enough" water. Its now moved where the area gets watered daily. I have my fingers crossed.
And the keiki...possibly a result of stress?
