major disaster for one ot the first cayys I ever bought Male
Default major disaster for one ot the first cayys I ever bought

Ok so I just got my first lesson in what brown bacterial rot looks like and can do .....

yesterday ever thing looked fine and all is well chids are happy Im happy ....

tonight about one horu ago I go to the grow room to chack on things and as I am turning my Goldenzell that has grow so well and is a huge plant I see a leaf laying over and it looks brow and soft .....OMG whats that

I look closer and several old Pbs are brown and soft as well ....O crap ....to the kitchen sink we go and out come the tin snips to cut away the folgers container ....

ahhh man rith in the center ....I fill one sink up and mix a really strong physan solution and I mean strong no measuring I dump and dont care Im going to sanitize as I go and want it to kill the rot....

I dunk the plant for a few seconds and start on the rotten roots not a horrible bunch but a lot ....I do still have good roots that were areial roots so were ok on roots later .

I start cyutting away rotted pbs and rhizome....I snip and a good division with three big pbs and two nice leads about 2 inches tall comes off ,Ok clean it up and set aside ...repeat and the next is only 2 pbs after trimming away rot ....not the greatest but ok.

well I end up with two nice 3 pb divisions with and 2 2 pb divisions all with a fair number of air roots ...I can work with that----If they in fact do make it .

I am out of medium of any kind so hydrotron has to be reused ...ok sink full of very very strong physan mix ...
Dump hydrotron in as in and fill the other sink up with a strong physan mix as well ...as I clean out dead and rotten as well as broken good roots I transfer cleaned hydron to clean sink of physan and let it saok while I dispose of the trash ....I empty and clean sink and mix new physan mix but this time by directions and again move hydrotron over to it ....soak and clean ..soak and clean ...

I am letting divisions set unpotted over night bare root and tomorrow will dunk for a few mins in physan again to make sure .....

Whis me luck cause man this sucks....my first catt seedling and its only two years old ....man that is a case of terrible twos for ya

I actually got lucky because I had just sprayed with physan as a general precaution yesterday so maybe I stopped it from spreading ...

If it's Erwinia, the Physan will probably take care of it.
If it's Pseudomonas, you are better off with Phyton 27.
If it's Pythium (fungus) then you are not done yet

Catts are most likely to have one of the first two however.

I refer to this link quite often for the pictures and the nice charts for both Pesticides and the Fungicides/Bactericides:
