Heavy oil residue on leaves
Default Heavy oil residue on leaves

Hi all,
This weekend I was given a couple NOID cattleyas, the plants look healthy but the leaves are covered with heavy oil residue, its sticky to the touch, the previous owners had them growing up near a skylight that captured a lot of smoke from cooking! Does anyone have any suggestions to remove the oil covered leaves without killing the leaves? Thank you!

Try wiping the leaves with a half lemon juice half water solution.

Possibly something like Lemon Juice would work. I've heard of folks using it to clean leaves and the mild acid can possibly cut throught the grease.
