Phal. rot of some kind? Male
Default Phal. rot of some kind?

I need your help with this Phal. Little Amaglad.
I have noticed a problem at the base of a leaf, but I'm unable to identify the cause.

There appears to be some tissue missing, so I suspected snails (and treated with iron phosphate), but the black area (bottom right, base of leaf) suggests some rot as well - pic #1.

A similar black area can be seen on the opposite side (pic #2). There are also some brown spots on the leaf, not watery and not expanding, which dried after I sprinkled cinnamon, but still have yellow edges.

I plan to unpot the plant, soak the whole plant for 10 minutes in Physan 20, cut the rotted parts, soak again in Physan, then repot in new medium (previously soaked in Physan as well). Do you agree? Any advice?

Many thanks in advance.

It's possible there was some water sitting in that leaf axis, causing it to rot - if that's the case, the leaf will die. Looks like it's contained to the one leaf axis tho, so I don't think it's a big worry. Getting some cinnamon in there might help. Tho, I am interested in what others may say.

You were right about that leaf, WhiteRabbit. It came off easily when I pulled it gently. However, the leaf wasn't yellow at all, which tells me that the rot was quite recent.

I repotted it after a good 15 minutes soak in Physan 20. However, there was more black tissue underneath that leaf's axis, which I didn't remove (it's part of the next leaf). We'll see.
