White spots on Phalaenopsis's roots

Greetings,

I have a Phalaenopsis that I almost killed with overwatering I discovered that the pot was half way full of water. The problem is that the flower has some white spots on the roots and I don't know what to do. I'm a nub with flowers so pleaseee help me! Any advices will be appreciated! Thank you!

I don't think that those white marks are anything to worry about. They can residues from water (if the water is somewhat hard) or fertilizer residues.

After you realized that you left it standing in water, did you ever unpot to check out the roots? There may be some rotten stuff that needs to be removed.

I didn't completly unpot. Should I do it? From what I could see the roots look nice and strong.
I could use some advices on how to do it and what to use to replace the old soil

From the outside, things may look good.

Roots that are closer to the center of the pot may not be doing so well.

Yes, do un-pot and check.

How long was it left in water. Mine have sometimes gone 24 hours on rare occasions with no ill effects at all.

If it was longer I would do as suggested and unpot and check the roots.

I agree that I think it is just hard water deposites on the roots.

Hey all

A while back I was asking for help with my orchid. Thanks to your advices I managed to save it but now I have another "issue" with it.

Seems like my orchid gets lots of new leafs and not so many flowers (7 new buds). Or is it this normal? Cause I got another orchid phal. that has like 20 flowers. What about the leafs? Arent too many? Can I do something to get more flowers?

New leaves are good. Don't worry about the flowers. In fact, I'd say remove the spikes.

The next set of blooms will be better.

I think your phal looks very healthy. I agree with the king, you shouldn't worry about the number of flowers. That can change from year to year and often it has to do with the amount of light a plant has received more than anything else.
