Default awww crap nasty surprise tonight ....

My Trias made a couple of leads last summer and knowing very little about it since it has in general looked pretty healthy to me I have left it alone and just watered as I thought it needed it ....I have been looking at it lately and thinking hmmm that medium is looking like it is compacting and breaking down more than I like.

Well I realy thought it was a very fine grade bark and on top looked like bark for the most part but it also looked as if the bark was decomposing into soil as well and changing the drainage and how fast it would dry out....well I decide no problem I will unpot and take a look especially since I have a new growth coming along and about the stage the last started putting out roots ...here is wher the aww crap started ....the new lead was detached because the rhizome had rotted in two.

OK not major disaster I think .....and take the plant to a area with better light and a sink to wash the roots off and awww crap again while a few roots look ok most are total crap when the medium is washed away and in fact the medium had decompsed to almost dirt stage ...

Long story short the two blooms this winter were the poor things biological alarm clock ringing not a sign that I was providing what it needed.
I got some of the filter medium I used for a ephidendrium last fall .."which by the way has worked very very well and roots are emerging from the filter medium in numerous spots now" and I made a hasty mount for the trias and lol the filter medium when soaked is flexiable enough I sewed it around the two sections of plant that look lik ethey may survive "MAYBE" I havent killed it yet but looks like it was not due to my efforts this thing must truly be a tough one....I am going out to the storage shed tomorrow and retrieving a wire form I have had put up for years waiting for a project that needed a water wheel facimile ...LOL thats is why I saved it years ago at work ,It was the spool mig wire came on and looks like a wire frame waterwheel just waiting for the wood slats.....Im going to pack each wedge shaped section with a piece of the green filter material so that it looks like a mossy water wheel and the center core as well and plant the trias on it and perhaps the zootrophium I have that is not truly happy at the moment ...a project is born.
