Blotches on petals
Default Blotches on petals

Hi all! I'm brand new to this, and have been very careful to follow instructions on how to properly take care of my orchid. However, over the past 2 days, strange blotches are appearing upon the petals of my orchid. I have no idea what is wrong or what it is. Here is a picture to help.

Oh okay. I just wasn't sure because they weren't there a couple days ago but now they are. Thanks!

Indeed they look like physical damage. This could be from transport or do you have a cat?

Cats are well know for being jealous when their care takers get distracted by orchids.

I've noticed spotting and some discoloration in some of my orchids a week or two before the blooms begin to dry up and fall. It may be a part of their natural cycle. I'd suggest keeping a close eye for any sort of bugs though just in case. You might also want to check the potting medium and roots to see what's going on just to be on the safe side. It's probably nothing, but if you are really concerned about it you might want to check to ease your mind a bit.

Yeah it might have been from the transport, or they're just getting ready to dry up and fall off. Thanks all. Just wanted to make sure
