HI,
I am attaching some pixs. I just bought this plant and the closer I looked at it, the more I think it has "something", not good.
Does anyone have a clue what the dark, black areas are and the raised area underside on photo 10 I believe it is.
Also, if you have any ideas how to fix it, it would greatly appreciated. Thank you!
The dark spot on that one photo looks like cosmetic damage from an old healed injury and it cannot be reversed. I'm also noticing old injuries along the edges of the other leaves, and some dehydration as well. Have you checked to see if the root system is healthy? Root rot will cause a progressive decline that usually begins with the loss of the oldest leaves first and it's often caused by old, decayed potting media and/or overwatering.
Another possibility is that your plant may have suffered some insect damage in the past. I had some cattleyas who's leaves looked like this after being treated for scale. The older bug attacked leaves were traumatized and eventually died back but the new growth was o.k. and the plants survived. I'd keep the plant quarantined until you can safely rule out disease and insects.

I have it quarantined and will keep an eye on it. I will also look at the root system. Thank you so much!
