I just wanted to add to this post for the sake of documentation of nelly islers turning orange.
My nelly isler got a little bit of water inside its leaves (maybe) and the base of the plant and the outer leaves started turning BRIGHT orange. I tried to keep an unaffected pseudobulb from the first plant, but it had a bit of orange, too, and the orange spread through the plant in a few days.
I threw it out before it looked this bad, but the bright orange color spread through the pseudobulb and became a brown color just like this.
It's really unfortunate that this happened. It just looks like a case of overwatering and then getting water into the leaves.
I attached a picture of the dying bulb next to an orange peel for reference. The new growths turned to MUSH, and the leaves along the sides of the pbulbs turned bright orange like the orange peel. It was pretty devastating.
