Yellow rings on phal Female
Question Yellow rings on phal

This phal has been doing extremely well until recently when I noticed these small yellow rings on its leaves. Can anyone help to diagnose what it is and what can I do to get her better? It looks like another of my phals (new) that I just repotted seems to be getting this as well. I don't think it is sunburn either.

I'm new to this site and hope my pictures got uploaded. If not, please bear with me. Thanks.

Hi, Was something sprayed around or on it ? Or cold water drops standing on the leaf ?The newer leaves are more tender that the older ones .
Virus is a possibility but there is no way to know without testing it . Gin

Kinda looks like spider mite damage? The yellowing areas and the pitting in the leaves.

pest link

just do a keyword search for spider mites. you can also test if you have spider mites by taking a plain white piece of tissue and rubbing it on the under side of the plants in question. if you have streaks on the tissue you probably have mites

Thanks for all the responses. There isn't anything on the underside of the leaves. Tissue came out clean. I have never used anything on my orchids so its not due to that. Its really strange, up until I hit 20 orchids, I have never had any problems with my orchids. Suddenly, I have a handful with various problems. Those have been isolated from my main collestion.

Gin, how does one get an orchid tested?

DJarum Black, what is pitting?

I took this phal to my local orchid grower and she didn't quite know what it was. But because I had another 2 orchids, one having scale and another mites (not the sipder kind) she told me to give it the same treatment. She doesn't seem to be doing much worse but not any better either. It just doesn't seem like any of the problems found in this forum so far.

DJarum Black, what is pitting?

Pitting is areas on the leaf that look caved in or like scars. When spider mites or false mites feed they suck the juices out of the leaves. They leave the areas yellow and sometimes sunken in and scarred. If you have the false mites you won't see them, but you will see their damage.
