Large spot on Phal leaf; fungus or bacteria??
Default Large spot on Phal leaf; fungus or bacteria??

After searching this forum and following the orchid diseases link I am now beyond worried about my Phal. I got it from a friend and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. I have had it for a few years and it has never flower spiked, but I just re-potted it this summer in a bark/little bit of orchid soil mixture that I have had success with before. It is a relatively healthy Phal from what I know of them. Now for my problem. A few days ago when watering I noticed this spot. I don't know if it is a fungus or a bacteria, and I don't know what to do!! Cut the leaf off and seal with cinnamon? Help!

How about keep leaf and dust area with cinnamon, sound better?

Increasing air circulation a bit would help too.

I will try that, sounds much better than cutting. Do you think moving to a more lit spot would help as well?
Thank you for your advice!

I would leave it where it is , They get dings and dents the spot if not dark and soft (squishy) then I would not worry about it only if it spreads, it looks dry in the picture .. Gin
