I have a question to add here. Does scale grow only under the leaves and on petals? And can it grow from within the leaves, as if "growing out" of the sheath? Don't know how else to put it. I have these growths on my paph and have never seen the likes of it but I'm still new to paphs. I fear scale. The growths on my paph look like peppercorns in a way.

Wow did you go to NY orchid show ? Me too! I've been to both of there( Orchid show of Rockfeller center and NY Botanical Garden orchid show) for ten years. I bought beautiful cattleya( with flowers) at Rockfeller center this year. What kind orchid did you buy?

Hello! Oh my... meth or volka! I never tried one so I will go to buy volka! Thank you so much about tip.
I sepatrated other orchids immediately when I saw scale at this plant so I thought it was safe from now....but I found three scales at my saparated B.Little Stars(nodosa x cordata) and I am so nervous about this discovery....I removed scale quickly but not with volka. I guess I am going to wipe volka that part later.

Thanks again for tips!

Blc Success Dream 'Miracles' - available for trade or sale
Blc Lawless Freischutz 'Carmela' - available for trade or sale
Blc Lawless Zauberflote 'Rainbow'
C. Summer Spot 'Carmela'
(5 above in 4" pots )
Bc (Little Stars x Maikai) 'Hawaii' in spike 2 blooms (light perfume powder scent at night)
Vanilla Planifola (non variagated leaf) 1/4" at thickest - 20" tall - no blooms
(2) Schomburgkia Thomasoniana
and if I had another hand or 2, I would have bought more - I was lucky to get them safely home taking a subway and the train! :D

I think you are refering to red spider mites. These pests like it dry. I am not aware that scale insects are too bothered by humidity as they have a protective shell.

Wow!You had bought so much! I envy you....
I just bought

Bc.Little marmaid "Jannet".

I am so glad that you had them all safe to your home!
I can't almost believe that!

I used have Vanila about 5years ago. Vanila will grow so well and quickly. You may better keep stand high.

I see! They are protected by that blown shell (I hate that!) indeed. But I have no idea why they came on my orchid. I found other scale on my phalaenopsis and I wiped out them with volka! But this one is just after re-potted so I am worry this....
Now I am thinking should I apply something to other orchids for block out scale.if there are "something".....

Would you know "something"?

Typically, we get scale insects by acquiring an infected plant. Left untreated, they develop into a winged stage, and that is mainly how they spread to other plants.

Most plant-friendly insecticidal sprays will kill them. A common systemic like malathion is excellent and reaches parts other sprays can't reach.

More people-friendly sprays like insecticidal soap also works on the bits you can reach.

If you spray, remember that the brown pepper corns will not come off, so you can't work out if you still have an infection.

So my recommendation is a vodka scrub followed by spraying with malathion
