Tospovirus on Phal?
Default Tospovirus on Phal?

This phal was a gift I received a few weeks ago. Today I noticed a blemish on one of the flowers. I'm hoping it's not a virus but I've never seen this type of issue before. After doing some research I think it might be tospovirus. However, not being familiar with this disease, there is really no way for me to know. Does anyone recognize what this blemish might be? Is it cause for concern, or is it ok? I have the phal quarantined from my other orchids. I read that an orchid with a virus should be destroyed, I hope this is not the case in my situation. Help!

is it just the one flower that is marred? it looks more like mechanical damage to me.....i would hesitate to destroy a plant because of one marred flower....i would need more proof than that....gl

It is just one flower and is probably just mechanical damage; what had me concerned was the damage was a rosette shape and I had never seen that before on any of my plants.

I also think it's mechanical damage.
One of the main characteristics of tospovirus is the inward cupping of leaves and leaves that develop a bronze cast followed by dark spots.
