Hi everyone, just got this orchid less than a month. It came with a diagonal crack in the 2nd to top most leaf due to bending while it was shipped.
1)
It's been growing fine but then noticed that part of the edge of the 2nd leaf from the bottom has gotten brown and desiccated which I've read is indicative of crown rot.
I've been very careful watering from a small beaker directly onto media not on leaves.
2)
Now there is a slight black around the base of the broken leaf as well as the leaf below it.
3)
Also, I noticed that on the underside of the cracked leaf that the crack has gone completely through the leaf and now has black edge to it.
4)
.
I have Physan 20, a scalpel and razor blades. Phyton 27 should arrive this week. What should next steps be? I've read in the Frowine book that diseased tissue should be cut off 1-inch into healthy parts. I am not sure how to deal with cutting off the tissue in photo 3 at the base of those 2 leaves.
Please help - I'm a newbie and it's a beautiful double-stemmed plant with 24 blooms and 5 buds.
Thanks in advance.
