Default Phal! black hole on plant

I had noticed this black spot on 1 of my Phals just shortly after I got it back in Feb, I thought it was just some surface inperfection, it appeared not to be causing any probleams, so I paid no mind to it, not long ago I noticed it was turning yellow, again I paid no mind as I know they occasionally do that, will then yesterday I noticed it was a top crown leaf and not an older lower leaf, so I checked it out and this is what I seen, the black spot on the surface was now a big hole.

I don't think its rot, the area thats black is hard and crusty like, and not soft and mushy as I have heard on rot and when and if water got on the crown area, I always wiped it dry with paper towel.

Others with more experience than I will chime in soon, but from pictures #2 and #3, it looks like crown rot.

I don't really have experience of this, but it looks like crown rot from other pics I've seen of that.

I would agree, but not all is lost. Looks like you might have another new leaf forming down there to replace the lost one. Just keep the crown dry or make sure that after you water/spritz it it dries up in an hour or so. In any case, so far it looks like this is not the en and it will keep growing in one way or another.

What bothers me is that I always made sure no water is left on the crowns if some got on there by accident, I woulld pat it dry with a paper towel and even stick in ends in the cracks to get as much water out of there as possiable, and its not mushy like I heard about crown rot.
Saying it is crown root, is this something that wil spread to the other leafs? further down from the hole its still kind of green and firm, should I try to remove all the black stuff?

Its also possible that instead of being crown rot it was the rot of only the newest leaf. Which makes sense if there is another on it way. I think crown rot has the potential to kill the entire plant very quickly, though I am not certain.

Good thought Tin. Jeffery, I think I would leave things as they are for awhile. The leaf with the black on it, if it isn't mushy, let it be.
Someone chime in if I'm leading Jeffery astray.

I could be completely off-base, but it looks a lot like a fungal infection that came on one of the bulbs of my Onc. Twinkle.

There are certainly other possibilities. Whether it's rot or an infection, pouring some Iso. alcohol around it and packing with cinnamon won't hurt anything.
