sticky phal leaves
I have a noid phal in bloom right now. I've been battling mealybugs but seem to have it under control. I've noticed the leaves have a sticky substance on them, otherwise, the plant looks healthy.
Any suggestions on what could be the problem ?

It could be a natural occurance or it could be something else. Can you post a picture of the plant in question?

I've had this issue on a few of my phals as well - sprayed them over and over many times with Safer soap just in case mites were involved - as I couldn't ever see/find anything. The few plants still do this for no apparent reason? Good question!

Here's a photo. I got it last year, the keiki was just starting to grow, I decided to leave it attatched. I repoted it and the main plant developed two spikes and the keiki has one. It's my first to bloom on its own.

It's mainly on the top of the leaves, you can't see it but you can feel it. It's like touching the back of tape.

Unfortuntely, I have no clue on as to why the tops of your leaves are sticky. Possibly someone else might have an idea. What did you you use to treat the mealy bugs?

I used rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. I just took the plant outside and sprayed it with insecticide soap. I figured it can't hurt in case there is something else going on that I can't see.

Well, the plant certainly looks healthy enough.
How about a close up picture of a leaf. Is that a possibility?
Beautiful blossoms by the way.
