My two phals have spikes but new leaves at the center are very sick. I have researched everywhere yet I don’t have a clue. Do you know if this is a Virus?
Can any of you guide me to the right direction?
Thank you

That doesn't look like any virus I have ever seen, it looks to me like the they were damaged in some way, maybe they were chewed by something, or got scraped.
Have you had them long?
maybe someone more knowledgeable with chime in.

I agree, it doesn't look like any virus I've ever seen.
I'd still isolate them from any other orchids you might have until you get a better answer.
It could be physical damage, any idea if an animal could have gotten to them, or as SFC said, if they could have gotten cut up some how? Those wounds don't look new.

I am puzzled too, I a have no animals, no chemicals, no sun burn... they live in a very big porch with very good ventilation and lots of light but no direct sun. I am afraid it is a virus because I noticed the same pattern on the leave of a small plant that I repotted and was located next to them. I am so said just to think of the possibility of having to destroy my babies. Do you know how far apart they need to be isolated from the others?

The only way to know for sure if there is a virus is to test. Observation alone cannot confirm a virus. The cost to test is not that much. You can also get do-it-yourself kits to test. Here is a lab where you can send samples:

Susan,

Thank you for the tip. I will contact them and send my sample. I thought it would be expensive to have them tested. Thank you!
