Virus on Cymbidium and Dendrobium?

Both the Cymbidium and Dendrobium had these markings when they were given to me. The Cymbidium really worries me, the markings have become worse this season, and is noticeable on the new growth as well. I have removed it from my shadehouse, it is now under trees. If it is a virus, can it spread to other garden plants? Should I rather destroy it? The new leaves on the Dendrobium are coming out healthy. What could the lighter colouring be?
