i agree with the prevention approach....give it a shot of insecticide and keep it clean with soap....

I'm surprised nobody has asked about the leaf discoloration around the sap drops? Or is that nothing to worry about.

Remember to use the soap or insecticide at least three times one week apart. You need to go through at least a reproductive cycle of the bugs or you will just get the adults and not the immature bugs. If I see bugs I start with a good dose of Safer soap and drench the whole plant, top, bottom, pot and all every 7 days, three times..

Are there some little white things along with the sap? I can't quite tell from the picture. If there are, it's probably mealybug, and well worth treating. Another possibility is mites, which you might not see...
Either way, I'd probably isolate it for a while to see what happens. My favorite treatment for mites, mealies and scale is to mix isopropyl alcohol and water half and half and add a little surfactant (read: Ivory liquid). I wipe the underside of the leaves gently but thoroughly to remove any adults, and then spray the upper and undersides of the leaves until they are well soaked. Some spray will get into the medium, too. That's good. I repeat the spraying 4-5 times, 2 days apart.

Ultra Pure Oil....our local orchid grower, Orchidaceae, swears by it. Not as toxic as Neem.

I have had great luck with Garden Safe Fungicide 3 it works great. I controls all types of critters. Do you see the white spots in water floating and jumping on top of the water? You can find it in all stores. Pam

All plants need light to grow, even those marked as "Low Light." There is no plant that will thrive in a dark corner or hallway. If you want to keep plants in places such as this, you'll have to rotate them regularly to a well-lit spot for at least a week at a time and then back to where you want them. It may be more convenient to buy artificial plants for such areas instead.
