I have three Phal's that have spiked this past November. I have been anxiously awaiting my new blooms and recently I have noticed that as the spike has finished growing and started to push out the buds, they (the baby buds) have turned brown. Now, my phal with three spikes, only has a total of 2 flowers, my phal with 2 spikes has only 2 flowers and my phal with one spike has only two flowers on it. I can't figure out why after all this time it would do this. Nothing has changed in the watering or food etc. Has anyone had this problem? It was so exciting to have three spikes and I feel pretty let down that I only got 2 buds out of the plant.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!
Sounds like bud blast which can happen for many reasons but for me the most common cause is change in temperature or the air passing by the buds or water getting on the small buds from misting and the like. It is a perplexing problem and I understand your pain and frustration....
The circles are where there used to be buds but they blasted. on the one with several circles, I've already removed the dead buds because they are unsightly and I don't need reminders of what isn't going to bloom!!!!!
