Microarachnids? Male
Default Microarachnids?

Every now and then, when I water my phal, 1 or two miniature insects crawl out of the media.. they are a bit hard to see if you are not looking for them. They are white and round, tinier than a pinpoint. I also sometimes see one of em speeding inside the clear pot hosting my orchid. They ae very fast creatures and look like arachnids. I'm pretty sure they have more than 6 legs. Unfortunately, I can't take a picture, since they are so small and I don't have a camera.

Any chance they are sucking on it's roots?
Should I repot?
How can I get a rid of them?
and what are THEY?

Thank you and please help me, I can't stand these horrible parasites anymore

It sounds like springtails to me as well. They tend to come out when you water.

Royal Horticultural Society - Gardening Advice: Springtails

According to the above link they are harmless. The link has a pic so take a look and see if they look right.

Springtails do tend to be found in older medium which could indicate you need to consider repotting. But the Springtails themselves wont hurt the orchid and I've had them in severl of my orchids before.

I looked them on the microscope. The little red things look almost transparent on the microscope and they have 8 legs. I also observed springtails in the media.

Now, what can I do to annihilate them, except from drowning them in a soapy bath every week?

It also sounds like it could be a Predatory Spider Mite.

They are a little larger then a Spider Mite and are much more mobile. Spider Mites (the pest) tend to find a spot to set up camp and stay there.
