What a coincidence! I just checked my sedireas from the same supplier this morning and I noticed a mealy bug on one of the flowers. Immediately sprayed it and hoping for the best.

Oh, when did you buy it from her? I think we may have the same shipment which were affected by mealy bugs. I have been waited the flowers opened for 3 weeks, but just found mealies...what a disappointed. I just repotted them this morning. So tired

I hate to say it, but bugs are just a part of things...I have purchased from the same seller before and never had any bug issues. Physan 20 is not an insecticide and will not be effective. I am with the others, use rubbing alcohol. The few times I have found a mealy I have swapped the area with rubbing alcohol and never had any other problems after that, it sounds like I must have gotten lucky and didn't need any additional treatments.

I pick em off with a Q-tip dipped in slightly diluted alcohol. They're my #1 enemy - they even got into my myrtle once, and I had to spay the whole thing with the alcohol mix, which worked.

I probably got my plants about 2-3 weeks ago...sounds like the same batch perhaps. I ordered three plants and only saw the mealy on one of them. When you repotted them, did you find any evidence in the root system of more mealys?

Neokate, for future reference, here's a link with pictures and names of some common plant pests:

Actually, I took off the sphagnum moss last night. The roots of infected one were pretty healthy and strong. I didn't find any mealy eggs or any insects. I think we both got the same shipments of Sedirea Japonica, that's why we both got the mealy on the flower bud. I just kept monitoring and spraying it with alcohol once a day. Hope it can be fine.

Kip, I know Seed Engei is one of good suppliers and she usually ships healthy and strong neos all the time. Maybe it's just a special case.

As Seed Engei is one of vendor for the 4th Annual Express Orchid Exhibition in San Jose tomorrow, will you go there from Fresno? maybe we can meet once.
