Black spot in crown - Orchid Board

Hi everyone.Well, here I am already with a problem. Today is watering day. This morning I see a round black spot inside the crown of my Paph Deperie. It is also seen on the outside of the leaf. I bought this plant from the hydroponic store in early Dec. I am thinking maybe it was in there when I bought it but now that the plant is growing, it is more obvious. If I can figure out how to attach a picture I will but do I treat something like that with physan 20? The plant looks great but the spot is where a flower I hope will emerge. I was thinking of taking the plant back on Friday but they are predicting snow for us. If the spot is bad news will the spot grow quickly? I will try to get a picture tonight.

I guess I'll wait to see the picture. But it doesn't sound good if it turns out to be crown rot.

Thanks Ross, that's what I am afraid of. But since I recently purchased the plant last month, maybe the store will be kind to me.
I just looked at it again and I see another smaller spot deeper on the same leaf. I am not getting a good feeling about this one.

I'd like to see a picture, it may turn out to be no big deal. A lot of my multifloral Paphs get spots around the crown that are not rot-related. There was a thread on this at the Slipper Orchid Forum, take a look and see if your problem is similar to the posted photos.

I hope this works. This is a picture of the spot from inside the area and outside. What does everyone think?

Looks like the harmless spots that multis tend to get, but it wouldn't hurt to put a little cinnamon on there if you're still worried.

Doesn't look like rot to me either, but if you choose to keep it I am sure you will be keeping a watchful eye on it, take note on it's advancement, if any. Paph's are funny little guys and can be temperamental, but with TLC they reward with a bloom of it's own uniqueness. Cinnamon is a good home remedy...

That is great news! While taking the picture I did notice a new leaf growing. I will probably keep it, watch the spots and dust with cinnamon. Hopefully the spots remain on the one leaf and all is well. Another lesson learned. Thanks for the quick responses.
