That's probably why it is declining so rapidly.
If it were me, I would never use pot culture to attempt growing the smaller Dichaeas. I hate to be a stickler on this, but I believe mounting on a tree fern plaque or something that retains moisture is the way to go. Maybe this time, I would attempt growing the Dichaeas mounted pendulously on tree fern poles without moss...my two cents. They're intermeditate to warm growing BTW. |
The ends of a pendulous growing orchid don't necessarily point downwards they have a slight up turn.

I'm not giving up on it yet, the roots still look good, and there are new green leaves poking out of the crowns. I also tipped it on end so it's hanging, and the growing ends are right above the perlite. The humidity is up around 80-90% within an inch of the bed.
BTW, Thanks for you input, I really appreciate it. |
the Dichaea your talking about sounds very similar to one I bought recently. Dichaea Lockhartia was the name on the 2 plants I bought.
The grower I bought them from didnt have much information on them so I divided up the plant and tried a few different things. Mounted on some cork bark covered in sphag. Planted in the substrate. Ive been keeping them pretty wet and so far ive seen no yellowing. But I havent seen much or any growth yet either. |
Yeah it's the same ones. Mine just got hit really hard and dried out, but there's still some green on it. So I haven't given up hope.
