No! Vandas are really touchy about root disturbances. Best to leave it on the mount until you figure out where it likes to hang. I agree with the others, it sure LOOKS like sunburn.

Can you collect rainwater? Vanda will LOVE that. Bad water doesn't help. I guess it's possible that it's why the black starts at the tips. Distilled water is another option if you want to try lightening up on the bad solutes.

I hear ya loud and clear on the re-potting question. Once the temps stabilize around here to no lower than the mid-fifties at night, I think I'll try a relatively sunny spot outside. (With shade during the hottest parts of the day of course.)
As for the water, I couldn't agee more. I usually keep a bottle of distilled around for my more water-quality-sensitive plants, and I'll ad this one to the list. I plan on getting an under-counter RO system in the near future and I'm confident that will make all my plants happier. Thanks for the input!

Sunburn seems to be the concensus. That is a relief to know and it's easily remedied. I was worried it may be something more serious like an infection of some kind. Thank you all for your help!

Hi Ray,
just a thought..
collecting rain water is easy & really does make a difference you just need a container to collect it out of the gutters...If you can you should really try to do this as extremely inexpensive! Before this I used to run outside with loads of containers everytime it rained to collect the water whenever it rained...

Yeah, I've got a bucketfull of rainwater right now. The only problem is it doesn't rain very much here most of the year. Right now we're in the rainy season so it's doable. I'm ready to invest in an RO system anyway - not only for my plants but so I can stop buying bottled water to drink. My water here is pretty bad. Thanks again for all your help.
