Default Fungus on phal leaves

I have had a fungal problem on several of my orchids for a few months now. The thin- leaved orchids such as oncidiums seem to be easily controlled using an fungicide, but the thicker leaved plants (such as phals and pseudobulbs) keep on getting lots of black fungal spots that indent into the leaf. Has anyone had this problem?

I will try to post pictures tomorrow.

Thanks, Cam

Its been a bit of a commen problem with some my phals over the last 2 years - Well, they weren't the best to start with either.
I try and try to cure them, the leaves would drop off and grow again just to drop off AGAIN.
I toss them on thursday. Man I feel good - more space for the good ones

Cam ... post some photos when you can ...

This is my Yellow NOID Phal, which has just sent out a spike. I have also provided a picture of yellowing spots on the leaves. Underneath this leaf, there are darker brown fungus spots, but it was too dark to take a proper picture. Although at the very top of the picrture of the close- up of the leaf, you can see a similar, but smaller dark spot. I am posting an update on my other plants in the beginners discussion.

Actually, I will post it here
Here are some pictues showing the new growth of my orchids:
My Sharry Baby has sent out a new growth! and lots of new roots since it was repotted after it finished flowering ( The fungus/ rot on the pseudobulb has stopped spreading since a fungicide was applied)

My Sanderara Black Star 'Pacific Red Star' Has also sent out a new growth, but is still showng signs of fungus (especially on the pseudobulb)

My Paphs seem to be doing well as well, with their new growth

And my small Paph. Peppermint,

In addition, my Milt. Herralexandre is sending up a new growth: (oh and the pleating in the leaves occured when it was in bark; I have fixed that problem!

As well as my Odontocidium Tiger Crow 'Golden Girl':

The Phal appears to me to have the beginning of Mesophyll Cell Collapse. We had a lengthy thread on this a while back so, if you do a search, you should be able to locate it.

Yes.. I found it.
It does sound quite similar. Like Gloria said in that discussion, some of the other orchids don't seem to be infected. Perhaps that is the issue with all of my orchids showing this 'fungus'... ( ie the picture of the pseudobulb with the indents). I have all my orchids together, and some have fungus, while others show no symptoms at all. My dend ( as I said earlier has the yellow markings on two leaves, but shows no signs of the dents and brown/ black spots.

Thanks for telling me!

Yup, I'm with Shirley - thats how some of the cell collapse started for me then theres the freaky dents / pitting like marks that were dark & reddish in color. Anything showing this got tossed out. I don't want anything like to to spread to my other orchids (If that would indeed happen) So to me this orchids are very questionable - not taking the chance anymore.

About the Den - Mine will always show some yellowing on the leaves before they drop off .... Is this what you're seeing?

I am going to take some more pictures this morning, but I also want to mention that I have similar markings on my odcm. Tiger Crow golden girl ( you can see them in the picture of the plant I posted yesterday), yet it has not spread since the summer. Do you think it is the same or different? The fungus on that plant gave it a pitted look as well.

Here is the yellowing on the leaves of my Odcm., and a photo of the pitting. Nothing new has appeared since I started treating them with fungicide during the summer. The yellowing actually began after the dark 'pitting' appeared.

Next is the yellowing on two of my Den. Nobile leaves. This plant has not been sprayed with fungicide, but I have noticed this slowly appear over the past few months.

And finally, my phal, which has suffered the most ( and is kept isolated from my other plants).I lots five large leaves after they became heavily affected by the spots. It is even starting a new leaf, but I think I will have to get rid of it.
