BTW, I added 7 (yes, seven!) green anoles to the lizard mix. They are more aggressive and easier to find (sometimes) than the geckos. I added a picture of two of the anoles - they don't like to stay still for pictures much. :rofl:

The first picture is of one of the geckos - see why he's so hard to find? The other two pictures are of some of the anoles - one snoozing on a catt, the other hiding in a staghorn fern (I circled that one so you can try to pick him out).

Sorry for the quality of pictures - I had to wait until it was dark (so they would stay still) so the contrast is a bit crazy and my cheap camera doesn't like to do close ups. :_(

The one hiding in the fern is psycho! When I go into the greenhouse during the day (when he's wide awake) he's jumping from hanging basket to hanging basket.

Do you know how crazy it is to have to buy crickets to feed the lizards who are supposed to kill the gnats? :yikes:

When we lived in Houston, we had chameleons that were often in the house and around the plants. I remember seeing them at times peeking from behind pictures and curtains. They were usually around the plants, however. I don't know how many bugs they ate, but we left them alone in the hope that they would take care of some of the critters.

Lizards don't do so well around here - something about the sub-freezing weather and deep snowfall tends to do them in. :icy :cold :icy Yeah, it's nice to introduce them to the Utah ecosystem. Wahahaha :rofl:

Well, being that I am a newbie on here, I am not sure of the effect of marigolds on the orchids, however, I do know that marigolds repel gnats and flies at my barn. Works wonderfully! Not to mention the color doesnt hurt either! Good Luck!

I love my lil lizards lounging around on my chids!! I know that they have feast on all the lil nasties that make my chids home too!!

I just get a big BUGGED when I catch them nibblin' on my babies NEW GROWTH!!
Once in awhile, actually tonight, I found 3 chids with they New growth bittin, chewed off! I know who/what did it.
Those little turds without tails! As my kitty and doggies like to play with the lizards too ;)
Once in awhile, they grab a tail, and it falls off? But they still run around like crazy eating bugs, and new growth for desert once in awhile!

Haven't had them start eating new growth . . . yet. :tapfoot: I'll have to watch for that.

So far the dachshunds are more interested in eating the crickets (for the lizards) than the lizards themselves. I'm sure that will change. :shock:

Haven't had a dachshund eat an orchid yet but the puppy brought in a few from the yard for me during the summer. I guess he knew I loved my orchids so he wanted to bring them to me, just to show me he loves me. :_( Most of them survived (and, yeah, he did too). :biggrin:

So I'm up to 13 green anoles in the greenhouse now. I just love them! The gnat population is way down and I haven't found them eating any of the 'chids (yet).

Here's some photos of some of the new ones. One checking out the misting system and another posing for pictures and letting me know that he's dominant in the greenhouse (by puffing out his dewlap). Yeah, right sucker - what happens if I stop buying crickets? :rofl:

If you want to keep the humidity at around 70% (or higher) in your house, hey, go for it! :biggrin: House geckos (I have a small one in the greenhouse too) are a lot less demanding when it comes to humidity and eat a bigger range of insects (hence the name, house gecko - many people just let them run around their houses to kill off insects and spiders).

If I didn't have three dogs and a cat in the house I'd consider letting a few geckos run around but I don't want to find portions of them left on my pillow as gifts from the dogs (which they do with insects). :shock:
