Default Paph spots

Just noticed these brown spots on my Paph. All three growths have them and mostly on the base of each plant. I try to water away from the crown unless I'm not careful enough.

Hi Marissa! I have some brown at the base also. I'm going to hang in here and see what others say about it. I am new to growing paphs, but I know they don't like water on their leaves and crown, just roots. I set mine down into the water and make sure it's solid and not going to tip one way or the other. I let the water fill up from the bottom. That seems to have helped, however, I still have the brown/black around the base of some. It appears to be a healthy plant as does mine.

While I'm no expert, it looks like water damage and early rot, especially the 3rd pic. I've been having problems with mine, also. You don't have to actually get water on them, just high humidity and poor air circulation and the ambient temps can do it. My 1st pic is most probably due to me getting water in the crown. The 2nd is most probably a result of too mcuh fertilizer and not flushing with plain water more frequently and subsequent salt buildup. The 3rd, I'm not sure...maybe some sunburn and now infection to a damaged leave????

Looks like rot to me. While I have had some rare instances, they have always occurred after keeping medium too wet or leaving water on the leaves. I'm not saying I am an expert (far from it) but I have seen those same spots on occassion. Not an insect or virus I'm pretty sure.

I can venture a guess as to rot. Very distressing to be sure. I will watch this thread to see what others think.
