Ok, some of my plants that I left indoors this summer seem to be having some spider mite troubles...so I think. (leaves get a slivery hue to them and then yellow and drop). I also found a mealie bug (and OOOOOO do I hate mealies) on a couple raffle plants that just came in. So I want to treat EVERYTHING! I used the Bayer Rose and Flower Spray when I brought everything back in and then treated them again two weeks ago but it doesn't seem to have done the job. So I want to use orthene, the wettable powder. Anyone know of a place that sells it and the ratio for mixing it? Thanks!

Before you go that route cowboy...when you treated with Bayer Rose, did you buy the systemic 3 in 1 rose spray or the regular spray? As well, in order to effectively treat for mites and mealies with the Bayer (and also GardenSafe which is equally good), it needs to be applied at least 3 times over a 10 days period. I had similar problems this summer and the stuff works, if applied in the right doses. Just a suggestion.

Two places that come to mind quickly are OFE and Hummerts. Also, you will most likely find any number of places selling it on EBay. Good luck with the mites!

Paul,

Before you buy Orthene for your bug problem, you should know that it is NOT a treatment for mites. FYI.

The Bayer stuff works well for me. I applied it every Saturday for 3 Saturdays in a row. No more mites on my Phals after that. Good luck.
