Whitley I could have bet my 'chid collection on being snails or slugs, but if that's not it, it could be well... just about anything that feeds on plants, beside insecticide I can't think of anything else to suggest but close observation.

It mostly looks like mechanical damage to me, too - rubbing, chewing, etc., except for the Phal, that looks kind of sunburned. I don't grow Phals, but have roasted pretty much everything else.
I have a nice squirrel sauce piquant recipe, it would also be good for cats - threaten them with it!

ok, i think i've got it figured out. i finally found these little gray bugs. i don't know what they are because they are so small that i couldn't make out enough detail to identify from the pictures i found on the internet. anyway, i bought some insecticide and have them sitting outside right now, after spraying them. keep your fingers crossed that it works!

I don't think it is a tiny insect because they usually suck the juices out of the plant without evidence of physical damage.
