AaroM There no doubt about it though, if there is one orchid pest that is "bullet proof' it is the snail and the slug , i have been trying rid my garden and orchid growing areas of this pest for 30 years. If only i could recoup the cost of all the snail remedies i have spent over the years I would most probably be driving a Benz instead of a Corolla today!!

Okay I finally got a chance at a couple of formerly hidden snail. They too must have felt the storm approaching. Anyway I saw one outside. I ran inside and got my salt while a friend of mine looked at me quizically. Anyway, I came back out and said you wanna see something potentially very cool?
I poured probably more salt then needed but I wanted to be sure I didn't cheat him out of his sodium. Man it was cool, no smoke like I wanted, but lots of writhing coiling, coming out, going back in, gooing. Overall a pretty satisfying experience.
I found a second one and repeated the process, with pretty much the same result. I'll try to get pics on here soon.
