I was checking my phals and I noticed that in the dish that one sits on there are a dozen or so teeny tiny bugs. They look like the world's smallest ants. They do not fly or jump. When I find my magnifying glass I'll get a better look.
I don't see anything on the plant itself which is in bloom and is also growing new leaves. I can't tell if there are any in the pot medium because they are so small and dark, but I assume there are.
I checked all my other orchids and didn't see any.
What are these little devils? Is it something I need to treat?
It sounds like thrips, a small black bug, that will damage your blooms,
I use a small amount of Ivy Liquid, and fine oil, this seems to keep them in check and will also help with mealy bugs and spider mites
