I think I tried the alcohol treatment in the past and the stuff came back. Maybe it was a new batch of the mold though or I just didn't clean the pot or change the pot, I can't remember! At any rate, I am planning on getting everything fixed up this weekend, no matter how hot...I guess! I don't have a choice really. I love my babies and dont' want them getting sick!

Caseydoll, I am definitely going to spray down the whole area with Physan too. I haven't received it yet, so hopefully it will come by Saturday (I ordered on Monday). I am going to "attempt" to remove all the old mulch, spray down real good and leave it alone for a day or so. Then I will re-mulch (very thin coat) and replace the orchid shelves. Thank you for the concern!

Jenn, I think I may get some of that Physan just to have handy, too. Maybe do some preventative spraying on the ground under and around my orchid house (and maybe my neighbors moldy shrubbery mulch). You can never be too careful when it comes to your 'chids.

Just an update...the hydrogen peroxide did not work. The mold is back and I have not received my Physan yet! I hope it comes today or tomorrow. I am getting worried. If not, I will try the listerine in the mean time. I just thought I would let anyone know for future problems.

i'm new to this but i believe what i see in the fourth pic is snail damage. i hung most of my orchids because of snails and slugs. they do lots of damage fast. those on the floor have apple slices laying on top of the bark. once they are attracted to the slice i just throw away. also spread salt around the area kills the buggers. good luck.

Cherublace, I am not sure which picture you mean (in post 1 or post 2), but the fourth pic in post one is an actual picture of the snow mold on the affected plant. This particular Phal actually lives indoors, so unless it had snail damage before coming to live with me then I doubt it is snail damage. Although, I do take them out to water and fertilize once a week, so who knows. Thanks for the extra idea though.

Hi Jenn, If possible dry them out after treating with Physan . Snow mold multiplies when the mix is wet, humidity is high ,more air flow will also help . I bought a bagged Catt. it had snow mold from being in the plastic without air flow . Gin

Thank you Gin. I finally received the Physan today (only a week later then anticipated....not too happy about it). I will make sure to leave them out that day and possibly a second day to dry well before repotting....again! I have alot of them to repot, but what can you do?
