As a newbie with two bug infected dens. I'd love to hear of any homemade insecticide recipes that you have successfully used.
I have no idea what kind of bug my dens have, but I noticed them this morning when I was watering. A few extremely tiny ant-like creatures just started scurrying to the surface and then quickly disappeared as the water was draining.
Though I was *really* tempted to run to a store and buy the most potent thing I could find - I thought I should try asking the forum first.
Hope you guys can help - I don't like the idea of sharing my tiny apartment with bugs!!!
Sounds like mites. I don't know about homemade brews, but I've been using Safer's 3-in-1 spray (plant derived potassium salts and sulfur) on a variety of critters with success. It's safe for indoor use.
Make sure someone double checks me for orchids but for all my other plants I dilute some Bronner's liquid soap in water and use a sprayer bottle on them
on my vegies i use a brew of rer pepper, garlic, onion and a few drops of ivory soap boil strain and ad soap to a spray bottle it won't kill but they don't like it
i never tried on my orchids but i bet it helps
