Phalaenopsis with discoloured and deformed new leaf Male
Default Phalaenopsis with discoloured and deformed new leaf

I have had Phals for some years. Just recently new leaves on several of my plants are blotchy, discoloured and deformed as per the photos(3 different plants). I have never experienced this before.

In photo 2 another new leave has appeared and so far seems unaffected.

I hoping that someone here might be able to identify what the problem is.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

It’s hard to diagnose from photos, but I’d guess it’s a pseudomonas bacterial infection.

Copper-based treatments are effective.

Looks like I see a small spot like scale, but my eyes arent that good.

I went back and looked at the other two pics, that I hadnt looked at before my first comment and they also look like scale to me. Dont all these organisms progressively adapt and change after all the treatments they endure?

It does look like Pseudomonas. Have a look at the orchid diseases section of the St Augustine Orchid Society Web page.
